以下哪一句正確?

1. How long is it to travel from here to school?
2. How long does it take to travel from here to school?

問所需時間多久,不能用 ‘how long is it’ (問長度), 要用 ‘how long does it take’ (問一段時間)😊

Topic 109: 作文時,寫生氣只懂得用 angry?😡

形容生氣的例子有:

形容詞有:I was angry / cross / furious / mad.
動詞有:I folded my arms. / I glared at him. / I stared at him.
比喻有:Her face was like thunder. / He was as angry as a bull.

Topic 108: 作文只懂用 ‘said’😨

英作跟中作一樣,可以用語言描寫表達角色的心情或性格。我們應該用不同的 saying verbs,以加強說話者的情感,如:

回答:answered, replied
建議:suggested, advised
命令:ordered
歉意:apologised
同意:agreed
懇求:begged
傷心地説:sobbed, cried
興奮地説:laughed, exclaimed
震驚地説:exclaimed
抱怨地説:groaned
取笑:jeered, teased
輕聲說:whispered
喃喃自語:murmured, muttered

例: ‘I have to stay at home. I have so much homework to do,’ groaned Peter.

注意: 説話內容 (’...’) 再加上說話者(groaned Peter) 才是一句完整句子,所以 ‘I have so much homework to do’ 後要用 comma (,) 不應用 full stop (.)

Topic 104: 過去分詞(現在完成式)快速記憶法

之前也談及過,以分組形式記過去分詞(現在完成式)絕對是又快又易的方法!(附圖就是小學生最常用的68個過去分詞)

1. i -> a -> u
2. Present form + -n/-ne/-en
3. Past form -n/-en
4. = past form
5. No change
6. Special case

還要記得牢牢的,就是以下5個有double consonant 的變化:
Ride -> rode -> ridden
Write -> wrote -> written
Bite -> bit -> bitten
Hide -> hid -> hidden
Forget -> forgot -> forgotten

*get -> got -> gotten 是美式,英式我們沿用 get -> got -> got

Topic 103: When / While 不應死記

教學生 when / while,不能一味靠死記何時用 simple past tense 或何時用 past continuous tense ,而是應該讓學生明白背後的意思。

When / While 用於連繋兩個動作或兩件事情:

I was doing homework (長動作,用 was /were -ing,因為做功課不會只做一分鐘,一定是一段時間) when someone knocked on the door. (短動作,用 simple past tense,因為敲門只需用很少時間)

I was doing homework while my brother was watching TV. (兩邊都是長動作,用 was /were -ing,因為做功課和看電視不會只做一分鐘,一定是一段時間)

Topic 101: 怎樣用 How long

1. How long is it from here to the post office?

2. How long does it take to walk from here to the post office?
3. How far is it from here to the post office?

以上三句哪句的文法是對的?

答案是第2及3句。第2句問行程時間(需時多久),第3句問距離(相距多遠)。有關 how long 的用法,請見附圖。

記住,如果是用來問路(例如在旅遊中心),便要先說 ‘Excuse me.’ 😘

Topic 96: 「情態副詞 (adverbs of manner: -ly ) 用來修飾動詞」是一定的定律?

同學們學情態副詞,一般是用在動詞後,如 The girl sings beautifully. (Sing 是動詞,所以用 beautifully,不是 beautiful)。

不過,同學學情態副詞時,不要死記 「動詞後用副詞,is/am/are 用形容詞」這說法,因爲確切地說,情態副詞是用來描述動作如何進行,所以除了verb to be (is/am/are) 後要用形容詞外 (如 I am happy.) ,如果出現如以下的狀態動詞 (stative verbs) 亦應用形容詞:

Look: The girl looks quiet. (Not ‘quietly’)
Sound: The idea sounds good. (Not ‘well’)
Feel: I feel sleepy. (Not ‘sleepily’)
Taste: The food tastes nice. (Not ‘nicely’)
Smell: The flowers smell nice. (Not ‘nicely’)
Keep: Please keep quiet. (Not ‘quietly’)
