Topic 34: a, an

Fill in the blanks with 'a' or 'an'.

1. ___ unicorn
2. ___ umbrella
3. ___ one-way ticket
4. ___ octopus

由於1及3的首音並非響音: 'unicorn' 開首讀成 /j/(you),而 'one' 讀成 /w/ (won),所以第1及3題用 'a',2和4 才用 'an'。

Topic 32: Everyone is / are ready?

Subject-verb agreement

跟 'someone', 'no one', 'something' 等一樣,'everyone' 也是跟單動詞 (singular verb) 的。
Everyone is ready.

Everyone is ready. Please take him / her / them out.
1. Everyone is ready. Please take them out.
2. Everyone is wearing a cap. They look smart.
3. Everyone looks smart.

Topic 31: "Noodles"

Do not eat too much pasta.
Do not eat too many noodles.

I am eating a plate of noodles/pasta.
