Topic 77: perfect tense 六種轉換法

上一講說過,不規則動詞 (irregular verbs) 轉過去分詞 (past participle) 有六種方法:

Method 1: i -> a -> u 🧐
E.g. swim - swam - swum
Method 2: present form + -n/en/ne 🧐
E.g. give - gave - given
Method 3: past form + -n/en/ne 🧐
E.g. tear - tore - torn
Method 4: same as the past form 🧐
E.g. buy - bought - bought
Method 5: unchanged 🧐
E.g. hit - hit - hit
Method 6: special cases* 🧐🧐

所謂特殊例子 (special cases),就是指不適用於上述任何一個方法,小學生常用的有附圖幾個。只要掌握了這六大方法,小朋友或會發現,原來學perfect tense 又不是太難了!💪💪

以下是不規則動詞 (irregular verbs) 轉過去分詞 (past participles) 的六種方法:

Method 1: i -> a -> u 🧐

E.g. give - gave - given

Method 3: past form + -n/en** 🧐

Topic 75: perfect tense

Topic 74: Lie? Lay? Lied? Laid?

不少小朋友對以上幾個生字都弄不清楚。

1. Lie ~> lied ~> lied (說謊)
2. Lie ~> lay ~> lain (躺下)
3. Lay ~> laid ~> laid (放置/產卵)

Topic 73: The simple past tense 過去式

學習過去式時,不少小朋友會有疑問,究竟哪些字會轉化成-ought 及-aught 呢?🧐

在初小階段常用的生字中,就只有附表那六個,再加上高小有機會用的 ‘seek ~> sought’ ,只要小朋友好好記著這七個,就不會記錯以為’thank’ 是 ‘think’ 的過去式了。😝

Topic 72: The simple past tense 過去式

我們的作者團隊一直認為,英語文法不是單純死記的東西,很多時候其實是有法則可依循的,其中一項就是過去式。之前在這兒也說過,小學生常用或在測驗中常被測試的不規則動詞 (irregular verbs)過去式不多於80 個 ,其餘都是 -ed 模式(規則動詞 regular verbs)。所以,只要學生們好好掌握這些不規則動詞的變化🧐,要學過去式絕不是一件傷腦筋的事情!💪💪

Topic 55: ‘a/an/the’ 怎樣分辨?

為什麼 ‘horse’ 用 ‘a’, 而 ‘hour’ 用 ‘an’?

在 ‘hour’ 中, ‘h’ 是不發聲的 (silent), 讀成 ‘our’ (vowel sound 響音), 所以便用 ‘an’了。

Topic 34: a, an

Fill in the blanks with 'a' or 'an'.

1. ___ unicorn
2. ___ umbrella
3. ___ one-way ticket
4. ___ octopus

以上四題雖看似同以響音開首的生字,但我們看的不是第一個字母,而是第一個發音。由於1及3的首音並非響音: 'unicorn' 開首讀成 /j/(you),而 'one' 讀成 /w/ (won),所以第1及3題用 'a',2和4 才用 'an'。

Topic 31: "Noodles" 可數的?不可數的?

大部分的麪類:"pasta", "spaghetti", "macaroni" 等等都是不可數的,但"noodles"卻是可數的 (usually plural)。

因此,我們可以這樣說:
Do not eat too much pasta.
Do not eat too many noodles.

此外,我們也可用食物量詞(如 a bowl / plate of)來表示:
I am eating a plate of noodles/pasta.

Topic 29: 容易令人混淆的生字:lie

1. I _____ never ________ (lie) to my parents.

2. I _____ just ________ (lie) on the lawn.

第一題的"lie" 是説謊的意思:
Lie -> lied -> lied
所以答案是 : have ... lied

第二題的"lie" 是躺的意思:
Lie -> lay -> lain
所以答案是 : have ... lain
